Hillsborough River State Park 2 Day Backpacking Trip
December 9, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - December 10, 2017 @ 11:00 am$25.00
We will be hosting a 2-day, 1-night backpacking trip in one of Florida’s oldest state parks, Hillsborough River State Park. For this trip, we will meet 12:00 pm on Saturday at the parking area near the swimming pool to discuss the hike and go over any gear questions. We will then begin our hike. This will be a very easy-going, leisure backpacking trip. The total distance of hiking is approx. 2.5 miles. Once we arrive at camp, we will set up camp, build a camp fire and enjoy each other’s company. After the sun sets, we will have the opportunity to look and listen at the marvelous sights and sounds of dusk in the woods! Birds returning home to roost, crickets and frogs croaking and chirping, mystery animals calling in the distance.
Throughout this trip we will be hiking on back country trails which may be uneven and narrow in spots as well as staying in primitive campsites. The trails will pass through open prairie, pine and oak forest, sun protection is recommended. There is no water at the camp so each hiker will need to bring enough water they will need throughout the weekend (4 liters recommended)
Each hiker is responsible for all of their own gear they would need throughout the trip. Check out our suggested gear list. Shared equipment is allowed if it is agreed upon beforehand. Additional details will be emailed as the backpacking trip gets closer.
