Provide information on the ‘tools of the trade’ and show you the proper use of backpacking gear.
Help you find the balance between comfort and weight.
Increase your skills and abilities.
Find enjoyment in remote places.
Learn the Principals of Leave No Trace (LNT) practices.
Discuss safe hiking practices and trail etiquette.
Enjoy a safe and enjoyable back country trip with an experienced backpacking guide.
This course is divided into 2 parts:
Backpacking – Classroom is a one day course that is held in an outdoor classroom setting. The day will consist of Instructor led presentations, gear demonstrations, hands on activities, and lots of informal discussions.
Backpacking – Camping is a two-day, one night backpacking trip. We will begin our backpacking trip in the morning and hike to a remote, primitive campsite (no electric, running water or bathroom). Throughout the backpacking trip, we will practice and perfect the skills and lessons that were taught during the classroom session.
The registration for this course is two-part, in the calendar Backpacking – Classroom is the outdoor classroom session. Backpacking – Camping is the two-day backpacking trip. Backpacking – Classroom must be completed before Backpacking – Camping. Go into the calendar and choose the dates that work best for your schedule. After completion of Classroom, Backpacking – Camping may be attended as many times as you wish (depending on available space) to hone your backpacking skills.
