Woman’s Weekend Getaway to Ocala National Forest
March 7 @ 8:00 am - March 8 @ 5:00 pm$75.00
Who is ready for a Woman’s weekend of traversing the beautiful, hilly stretches of pine forest within the Ocala National Forest. We will be camping at Alexander Springs and day hiking along the oldest section of the Florida Trail. The trailblazers who built the original route here were the first-ever Florida Trail Association work crew of trail maintainers, organized and led by Florida Trail founder Jim Kern.
We will arrive at Alexander Springs and set up camp. Once camp is set, we will shuttle to Clearwater Lake and begin hiking though the beautiful Ocala National Forrest while enjoying lunch on the trail. Once the group arrives back at camp, it is time to relax and enjoy each others company. Canoe rental and Swimming is also available near the camp.
Each person is responsible for all of their food (except breakfast on Sunday) and their own hiking and camping gear that will be needed throughout the trip. We do have tents available for you to use, please notify us beforehand if you will need one. Sharing of tents will be required. Check our suggested Hiking Gear and Camping Gear.
If you are in need of any rental camping or hiking gear, check out our full line of rental gear at https://hikeitflorida.com/rental-equipment/
The campsite is near a bathroom and running water.
On Sunday Morning, our trail guide will be offering a phenomenal breakfast made at camp. After breakfast you will be able to spend the day enjoying the park, hiking the trails or swimming in one of Florida’s largest freshwater springs.
The cost of the trip is $75.00 per person and pre-registration is required.
